Halloween in Phuket: how to decorate a party with balloons
Halloween keeps growing in Phuket: villas with pools, warm evenings and a big expat community make late October a great excuse to gather friends. Here is how to build the decor so the party looks cohesive rather than like a random pile of pumpkins.
A palette of three colors, not ten
The Halloween base is black and orange. Add purple as the third color for mystery, or gold if you want it to feel more premium. These three colors are enough for a latex balloon garland that sets the backdrop for the whole party.
Foil figures add the accents: pumpkins, ghosts, bats and spiders. A couple of large figures per zone is enough - do not overload it.

Table. Tableware matching the palette, candles and low mini-balloon arrangements that do not block the view.
Pool. Weighted balloons around the edge plus lighting: the water reflects the color and doubles the effect.
Ceiling. Helium balloons with long ribbons add depth even to a plain room.
Kids or adults
For kids go with cute pumpkins and bright orange, and finish with a sweets pinata. For an adult party shift the palette to deep purple and black with gold: stylish and not cartoonish.
